Dave(tm)'s Black 5 door GTi DSG
« on: October 04, 2014, 06:41:38 am »
The GTi is finally here...And I love it. Fantastic car to drive  :driver:

I don't have many major plans for the car, but this picture is taken outside Autosound Blackpool, where it's getting cruise control, Bluetooth and a parking sensor (yes, I'm lazy).

Decided that I'll keep this thread updated with pics and keep stuff one place. Seems like the north is in eternal darkness at the moment, but i did get these when had some daylight recently.

Before and after exhaust tips (small things!)

Just taken delivery of a few bits from @Mandy ...

Seat inserts and DSG paddle extensions.

Mods so far

IO Play2 Bluetooth
Cruise control (not working yet!)
Rear parking sensors
DSG paddle extensions
GTi seat inserts
Cherry hazard switch
K&N panel filter
VW valve caps :-)

Future mods

R-Tech remap DONE
Pre-cat delete DONE
A mild drop
SALK

Cheers Wes, yeah I'm happy with them :-)

Hoping to get the cruise control sorted tomorrow before heading down south for the week on Tuesday.

Fitted these today, bought from a fellow forum member:-

I say fitted them...they just push on, so my 3 year old fitted them for me. He also "helped" with some of the other bits previously, as you can see from his little trainer in one of the pics. Starting him young  :happy2:

Looks lovely. How did you get your exhaust tips back to being that shiny!?

Autosol, a scouring pad and a load of elbow grease. Problem is, it gets dirty so quick again! I'm told that using wheel wax makes it easier to clean next time.

Been a while since I updated this one!

I always intended to be a slow modder on this one. Other properties and all that. It's a great car as standard, so just needs a little embellishment in my opinion.

Anyway, you'll have to excuse the filthy car in these pics. The car spends a fair bit of time on the motorway!

So Santa kindly brought me a Ramair CAI. I had been looking at others and just thought for the price, I'd give it a go. Here it is:-

These kits have been mentioned a bit. I think it's great. It's not as pretty as some others, but mine's no show queen. Sound wise it's similar to the Revo kit, slightly quieter. Sounds much better actually post map.

This brings me on to my trip to R-TECH. I'd planned this for ages and after a lot of research, couldn't really go anywhere else. I'd always wonder if it could have been better. So off I went to Hinckley. Great day out with my boy and a mate (forum member). Very pleased with the results:-

Power is just available all through the rev range. Sport mode in particular is transformed. Great guys and well worth a visit!

Finally, I whacked this on today:-

Not decided on it yet. Car needs a clean as it doesn't even look black at the moment!

Thoughts/comments/questions welcome.

Love what you've done with the badge.

Is that just a stick on underlay to the standard badge?

I'm tempted to do something similar.
Steel Grey 2006 Mk5 GTI - R-TECH Stage 1 (268bhp/334ftlb) - BCS Cat Back - Pre-Cat Delete - Carbonio Panel Filter - Rev G DV - 18" BBS CH - Leather - RNS510 - Colour Coded Bumpers and Skirts - ED30 Front Splitter - Eibach Sportlines - Open Fog Grilles - Wind Deflectors.
